14: Rick Grimes
Having been our eyes and ears throughout THE WALKING DEAD series, Rick Grimes was first exposed to the zombie apocalypse after waking up from a comma brought on from a gunshot wound. Since then he has struggled to keep his family, as well as a group of survivors alive in a world ruled by the undead. What's interesting to note is how Robert Kirkman (creator of the series) stated how Rick would be a completely unfamiliar character than the one we were first introduced to at the start of the series. I can definetly say that Kirkman's assessment was correct. Rick has endured more than any man should have to, with the responsibilities of keeping both his himself and others alive in a world where one mistake is your last, as well as losing many of his friends and family members. This has caused him to make many controversial descisons, and sometimes coming close to losing the humanity that he struggles to hold onto. Despite that, Rick still manages to retain his faith in others, and believes that they are not too far gone to the point of becoming worse than the undead, and that we have the potential to go back.
