What is it that one finds compelling about superheroes. Why are we attracted to characters that dress in ridiculous outfits that go out and fight crime? Is it because of their sense of rightousness and desire to protect others, or is it that they have the potential to be relatable and enduring characters. For me, the best kinds of superheroes are the ones that are well-developed, and have deep psychologies or motivations that drive them to do what they do. They are the ones that we can connect with, and possibly relate to. The ones that if existed in real life, we would trust with our lives despite any ethical or moral flaws that they may possess. Here, I present what I consider to be the top 25 comic book superheroes that I consider to be the most engaging and well-developed.
