13: Nightcrawler

Though he has the appearance of a demon from Hell, Nightcrawler is actually a mutant with the ability to teleport, and is an extremely devoted Christian. A long time member of the X-Men, Kurt proves that appearances are decieving, as this kindhearted, and friendly individual would lay down his life to protect the people he cares about, and will never lose his faith in God, despite any dark depths he may be forced into. It's the kind of message that stays true to the essence of what makes the X-Men who they are: that no one should be judged by their appearances, but by who they are underneath.
