Was anybody really surprised to see Batman in the top 5 of this list? The dark knight is quite easily one of the most complex and developed superheroes in existance. After having his parents killed by a mugger, Bruce Wayne traveled the world in order to learn the means to fight in justice, and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. Learning skills from marial arts experts from across the world, as well as studying criminology, and forensic science, Bruce Wayne has honed himself to physical and mental perfection. He uses the symbol of the bat to strike terror in the hearts of criminals, as bats had frightened him as a child. As the dark knight, Batman is determined to rid Gotham City of the evil that took his parent's lives, and make the city safe for its good citizens. Batman's whole mythos follows this one man's quest to save his city, and it's a journey that has captured the hearts of countless comic book fans!
